Warcraft III: Reforged multiplayer beta has launched
Blizzard has started sending out invitations to the multiplayer beta of Warcraft III: Reforged. This is a remaster of the strategy game Warcraft III from 2002. When the game will be released is still unknown.
Blizzard reports that it will start handing out invitations this week and already the necessary sessions of this beta are being streamed on video platform Twitch. The invitations, which will be sent out incrementally in the coming weeks, seem to be only open to those who pre-ordered the game for now. Those who pre-ordered the Spoils of War edition will be the first to get access.
The company says the beta will still have some limitations, such as limited access to the orcs and humans in the 1v1 and 2v2 matchmaking. In the coming weeks, the undead and night elves races will also be added, and more game modes will become available.
Warcraft III: Reforged will not only feature the base game Reign of Chaos, but also the Frozen Throne expansion. In addition to multiplayer, the game contains a total of 62 single player missions. As part of the remaster, the graphics will be updated, playing field adjustments will be made, and there will be new voiceovers and cutscenes.
It is not yet known when the remaster will be released. The game was announced at Blizzcon last November, with the message that it would be released sometime in 2019. During an interview last November, Blizzard producer Pete Stilwell indicated that the beta would be released in early 2019. Since the multiplayer beta is only now available, it is more likely that the game will be released sometime next year.
