Warcraft 3 also gets a new update after years
Development studio Blizzard has announced that Warcraft 3 will also receive an update after Diablo 2. The American studio has not yet announced what it will contain. It does state that the patch will be released on Tuesday, March 15.
Robert Bridenbecker, head of Blizzard’s Classic Games division, announced the news in a video message addressed to the Chinese Warcraft 3 community. Nevertheless, the update he talks about, version 1.27, will be released all over the world at the same time. Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos was released in 2002 and the expansion, The Frozen Throne, followed in 2003. The last update to the game was version 1.26 in 2011.
In November 2015, it emerged that Blizzard was keen to maintain its older titles such as Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 to ensure they remain decently playable on modern hardware and operating systems. At the time, they were looking for new staff. Last Friday, Diablo 2 also received an update aimed at eliminating glitches and creating compatibility with modern Apple computers.
Last November’s job posting also hinted that Blizzard would be servicing StarCraft. However, the company has not released anything about it since then.
