Wacom Intuos modkit enables Cintiq-like tablet
Crafty hobbyists who have a Wacom Intuos laying around can convert the input tool into a Cintiq-like tablet with the help of a specially marketed bezel and additional hardware.
On the TabletMod website, a number of special bezels are listed for the Wacom Intuos2, Intuos3 and Intuos4 and the somewhat older UD 12-12. offered, which can be placed over the tablet. Using an LCD, for example from an old laptop, an LCD controller kit and extension cables for the ccfl backlight, a handy hobbyist can build an Intuos convert to a significantly more expensive Cintiq drawing tablet with a touch-sensitive LCD. This makes the DIY project especially interesting for those who already have one or more parts.
Depending on the size of the plastic frame, an amount of approximately $ 225 must be deposited. The LCD display requires a 15″ or 15.4″ panel, where the resolution does not play a role. However, an LCD is recommended with only one pcb for the controller, because otherwise more extension cables are needed.
