VRT makes VRT NOW available via an app for Android TV and for the latest generation of set-top boxes from Proximus and Telenet. This means that the video service can be used directly on TVs. The apps for Apple TV and Samsung TVs will follow.

Users could already use VRT NU on TVs via Chromecast or Airplay, but the arrival of the apps means that the video platform can be accessed directly from TVs and TV boxes. VRT speaks of a phased introduction.

The apps for Android TV and the TV boxes from Proximus and Telenet were the first to appear. The Orange set-top box app will be released in January, and the Apple TV and Samsung TV apps will also be released at a later date. It is unknown whether apps for other platforms, such as Fire TV and WebOS, are also being developed.

VRT started its NU video platform in 2017. Since then, the programs can be viewed via the browser, and apps for iOS and Android followed later.
