Volkswagen introduces electric ID Roomzz SUV with a range of 450 km
Volkswagen presents a prototype of an all-electric SUV. This ID Roomzz SUV will initially be released on the Chinese market, in 2021. More electric car models will follow in the ID series. The car should have a range of 450km.
At the Shanghai Auto Show, from April 18 to 25, Volkswagen will present the ID Roomzz. In terms of size, the car is a full-fledged SUV that, like the upcoming ID car models, will be built on the MEB platform. The ID Roomzz will have two electric motors, with the front and rear axles each getting their own electric drive. The car has a power of 306 hp and can reach 100 km/h in 6.6s.
The new SUV will in any case have an 82 kWh battery and should therefore achieve a range of 450 km based on the wltp standard. According to the manufacturer, fast charging with 150 kW is possible; this means that 80 percent of the battery should be recharged in about half an hour. Volkswagen refers to the ‘concept car’ here, so these specifications may change slightly in the final production models.
According to Volkswagen, the interior of the car has been adapted to autonomous driving. When the fully autonomous driving mode is activated, which involves level 4 autonomy, the individual seats can be rotated 25 degrees to make it easier for the occupants to have a conversation with each other. There is also a so-called ID. Pilot Relax mode, where each passenger can, for example, place their seat in a reclining position.
