Vodafone: three outages in October were not related
The three disruptions on the mobile network that Vodafone had to deal with in October were not related to each other, according to the provider. On October 12, 14 and 25, Vodafone customers had to deal with disruptions to mobile internet and calling for hours.
Last Monday’s outage was caused by “a complex connection problem between two data centers”, according to Vodafone, and that is an isolated incident, according to the provider. Vodafone says it is still investigating ‘how this connection problem could occur’.
Vodafone also provides some details about the disruptions in the first half of October. The outage on October 12 was caused by a ‘corrupted database’ and the outage on October 14 was caused by ‘human error’. The provider does not disclose more technical information.
Vodafone has put the details online through its community manager. Many customers complain on the provider’s forum about the three failures that occurred relatively close to each other. The provider says it has conducted research into the past failures and is implementing ‘improvement actions’ to prevent similar failures in the future.
