Vodafone subscribers can finance new smartphone during contract
Vodafone gives subscribers the opportunity to purchase a new smartphone via the provider during the term of their contract. The old device must be bought off or exchanged. When choosing a new device, customers take out a new two-year subscription.
Switching to a new device within the contract period is possible from four months after the start of the subscription. Vodafone calls the option NEXT and makes it available for subscriptions taken out after April 4 this year. Customers with a SIM-only subscription can switch to a subscription with telephone two months after the subscription starts. The old subscription will stop immediately and the new conditions will replace the old one.
When choosing a new device, customers must pay off the balance of the current telephone and the device becomes the property of the subscriber. It is also possible to exchange the smartphone and thus receive a discount on the financing of a new device.
The amount that Vodafone gives for the exchange of a device depends on the model, condition and age. According to the provider, the amounts are comparable to the trade-in deals that Vodafone already uses for people who want to hand in a smartphone. For example, a Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB yields a maximum of 171 euros and for an iPhone 6S 16GB the provider gives a maximum of 299 euros. Damaged devices can also be exchanged, but then the user will receive a lower amount.
According to the provider, many people need a new smartphone before their subscription ends. Vodafone says it will put more information about NEXT online on 25 July.
