Vodafone makes 4G network available for prepaid and Hybrid customers
Vodafone will also make its 4G network available to its prepaid and Hybrid customers from Tuesday. Provided they have a device with 4G support, these customers can choose monthly whether they want access to the 4G network.
The provider has announced this on its site. Previously, only customers with a subscription could use 4g. The 4g bundles are used in combination with the standard data bundle. For prepaid customers, a bundle costs five euros per month and Hybrid customers pay 2.50 euros per month. After the standard data bundle has been used, the customer switches back to the provider’s 3G network.
The 4G speeds for prepaid and Hybrid customers are a maximum of 25Mbit/s for the download and 12.5Mbit/s for the upload. Prepaid and Hybrid customers can also use 4G abroad. The download speed of 4G with a Vodafone subscription is currently 50Mbit/s. The new 4G bundles for prepaid and Hybrid customers can be activated via the special 4G page on the Vodafone site.
The rollout of Vodafone’s 4G network is going significantly faster than the company originally estimated. The provider recently announced that it will have nationwide 4G coverage in September, more than six months ahead of schedule. The reason for this would be the mild winter, which allowed technicians to continue installing 4G masts during the winter. Vodafone currently claims to have about 900,000 customers who use 4G. That number should have doubled by the end of 2015.
