Media player VLC will receive an update on Wednesday that will allow the software to support RTX Super Resolution. This allows the media player to upscale the image quality of videos. The feature requires an Nvidia RTX 30 or RTX 40 card.

When users have enabled RTX Super Resolution within the Nvidia Control Panel, the media player will recognize this and apply the upscaling technique to videos. That writes The Verge, among others. The RTX Super Resolution support should arrive with VLC version 3.0.19 on Wednesday, April 12.

Earlier this year, Chrome and Edge received support for Nvidia’s upscaling technique. RTX Super Resolution improves image quality with machine learning and can remove artifacts or increase resolution.
