There are already more phones with a fingerprint scanner behind the screen, but those are more expensive models. Vivo showed the technology for the first time at the beginning of this year at CES with its X21 smartphone. Later, the company brought the hidden scanner to its flagship model, the Vivo Nex with extendable camera. The Huawei Mate RS and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition also have a similar fingerprint scanner. The technique only works with OLED panels, which are more expensive than LCDs.

According to The Verge, the Vivo V11 will be released first in India and Thailand, followed by various international markets. It is not yet clear whether the device will come to Europe. The price of the device would differ per market, Android Authority says. It would be a price of 366 to 440 dollars, converted about 316 to 380 euros.

The Vivo V11 is similar to the Oppo R17 in many ways. That device has the same OLED screen with a fingerprint scanner and drop-shaped notch behind it. The R17 has slightly better specs, with a Snapdragon 670-soc and 8GB of ram. In China, the R17 costs 3499 yuan, converted that is 440 euros. Oppo is a sister company of Vivo, just like OnePlus.

Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus are all part of the Chinese company BBK. Devices of the different brands often resemble each other. It is therefore expected that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will get features from the V11 and R17. Photos appeared on Weibo that would show the packaging of the new OnePlus device. This shows the drop-shaped notch and the fingerprint scanner behind the screen. It is not possible to say with certainty whether this is the real packaging.
