Vivo has announced the X60 Pro+ smartphone. The phone does not have gimbal stabilization on the primary camera, which now sits on the ultra-wide-angle camera. The primary camera is one of the largest sensors on a smartphone to date.

The X60 Pro+ has the Samsung Isocell GN1 sensor that Samsung presented last year. That is the first camera sensor with pixel binning and dual pixel autofocus. The dual-pixel autofocus uses a total of 100 million diodes to determine focus. The GN1 has an area of about 70 square millimeters or about 1/1.3″, with pixels that are 1.2 microns in size. With pixel binning, where the software can use the information from four pixels for one pixel in a photo, images with a resolution of 12.5 megapixels. The sensor supports 8k video recordings up to 30fps.

The large sensor enables Super Night Mode 2.0, a night mode that according to the manufacturer works with 0.01 lux. The ultra-wide-angle camera has a 48-megapixel sensor, which is a Sony IMX598. It’s very similar to the IMX586 found in many other smartphones and was the primary camera of last year’s X50 Pro. The lens has an angle of view of 114 degrees and there is gimbal stabilization for making videos. That stabilization can correct up to three degrees of movement.

The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-soc, assisted by 8GB or 12GB of lpddr5 memory and the phone has 128GB or 256Gb of UFS 3.1 storage. The device has a 6.56 “OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is a 15.2×6.9 cm screen, good for an area of almost 105 square centimeters and a screen ratio of 19.8:9.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ is primarily intended for the Chinese market and costs 5000 yuan there, which is currently about 635 euros. Vivo does sell smartphones in Europe, but not yet in the Benelux. The brand falls under BBK Electronics, just like OPPO, Realme and OnePlus.
