Vivaldi releases final version browser
Vivaldi released the 1.0 version of its browser on Wednesday, more than two and a half years after it came into development. The Chromium-based browser has been available in beta since November 2015.
Vivaldi focuses primarily on power users and was set up by former Opera employees, including former CEO Jon von Tetzchner, who believed the Norwegian company was going in the wrong direction with its development.
Unlike many other browsers, which require extensions to be added to get certain functionality, features such as mouse gestures, tab stacking, extended keyboard shortcuts, and annotation on web pages are already standard in Vivaldi.
For the user who still lacks certain functions, there is the possibility to add Chrome extensions, since the browser runs on Chromium in the base. The beta version of Vivaldi came out a week ago for OS X, Linux and Windows.
