Vivaldi browser on Android can force dark mode for websites
Vivaldi Technologies, the company behind the Vivaldi browser, has provided the Android version released earlier this year with a feature to display all content on the web in a dark theme.
The update from version 3.0 to 3.1 not only brings a number of performance improvements and fixes bugs; the dark mode for web content is also part of the new version. Light and dark themes were already available for the user interface, but this is now also possible for displaying websites.
To use this, users must set this in the Vivaldi Settings under Themes. There you can enable dark mode for web pages, which automatically converts all pages into a dark version.
Android Police has tested the feature and reports that it doesn’t always work perfectly. For example, correctly displaying the dark theme turns out to be a bit more difficult on sites with a lot of custom CSS, such as Android.com. There, certain text appeared to disappear, as it were, because it was displayed in white on a white background. Also websites with built-in dark themes can partly lead to issues, such as displaying different colors here and there.
