Videoland introduces Basic subscription for 5 euros per month with advertising
Videoland changes its subscription structure and introduces two new subscription types. The old ‘standard’ subscription is now called Premium and is 1 euro per month more expensive. For 5 euros per month, users can take out Basic, where they receive advertising.
The difference between the three subscription types is in how much advertising the user sees, how many screens can be viewed simultaneously, and whether films and series can be downloaded, according to the Videoland press release. The cheapest subscription is called Basic and allows users to watch TV series and films for five euros per month. With this format, only one user can watch at a time and video download is not possible.
It is not clear in which form the advertisements will be displayed. Presumably it is about pre-rolls shown for a series or film. Users may also see advertisements during a show or movie. Videoland says it will start with ‘a number of regular partners’, later this year the streaming service will ‘further expand’ the commercial possibilities.
Plus is the middle subscription and costs eight euros per month. This subscription is ad-free and lets two users watch at the same time. With this subscription, users can also download videos, to get them back at a later time if, for example, there is no internet connection anymore.
The most expensive subscription is called Premium and costs ten euros per month. This plan is comparable to what current customers have. It has the same benefits as the Plus subscription, with the exception that four users can use Videoland at the same time.
Videoland will release the new subscription types in phases in ‘the coming period’, for both new and existing customers. The streaming service emphasizes that users get to see the same range of series and films regardless of their subscription.
