Video shows sturdy Galaxy S5 Active with physical buttons
Two videos have come online showing the Galaxy S5 Active clearly. The videos of the unannounced phone show a sturdy-looking S5 Active that has three fixed buttons.
The S5 Active carries model number SM-G870A and, according to a hands-on video, has an AMOLED screen. According to previous rumors, that screen is 5.2 “in size. Android 4.4.2 is installed by default. Samsung may have opted for fixed buttons because there is no capacitive touchscreen on the market that works well underwater.
From the video that discusses the technical specifications of the device, it can be seen that the phone would have a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. However, the creator of the video thinks the resolution is higher, because the screen would be much sharper than that of the S5. Furthermore, the S5 Active would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 soc, which includes a quad-core Krait 400 processor with a clock speed of 2.46 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU with a clock speed of 578 MHz.
With the Galaxy S5 Active, Samsung is probably targeting users who want to use their phone in dusty and rough areas. However, the water and dust resistance of the device is not unique; the standard S5 already has this. Earlier this week, videos and a number of photos of the S5 Prime also appeared; a high-end smartphone from Samsung for power users.
