Details of Cortana, Microsoft’s voice service, for Windows 10 have surfaced. A video demonstrates how the service will function in the new Windows version, although Microsoft is still developing it.

A video posted online by WinBeta shows how Microsoft’s voice assistant functions. There is a search button to the right of the launch bar that launches Cortana. The service then listens to voice input, similar to how it works on Windows Phone. Incidentally, it is not clear how the site accessed the build with Cortana.

WinBeta shows how to open the agenda and add appointments via voice input. In addition, the site shows how to set reminders and alarm clocks and how to make notes. It is also possible to ask Cortana to play music and to give navigation directions.

According to WinBeta, it is still a test build and several functions are not working properly yet. The interface is also not completely finished and it is not yet known whether Cortana will actually be placed next to the start button. The site states that the current build is primarily built for developers and that some changes will be made before the service is considered suitable for consumers.

Microsoft itself is expected to reveal a number of features of Windows 10 early next year. This so-called Consumer Preview should appear at the end of January, but Microsoft itself has not yet confirmed this.
