Video app Detail allows simultaneous recording with two iPhones
The startup Detail has released a feature that allows users to record videos from two iPhones or iPads simultaneously. The feature is called Multiplayer and automatically syncs the video and audio feeds of the two devices, without the need for any cables.
The Multiplayer feature is intended for capturing video podcasts, interviews and events, and is optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. The feature only works when the two iPhones or iPads are ‘in the same room’. It is therefore not possible to use the function remotely, which happens regularly when recording podcasts.
Video podcasts have grown in popularity in recent years, partly because video clips are more shareable via social media channels than audio alone. In many cases, images of the host and guest alternate. Detail’s Multiplayer function makes it possible to show both speakers on screen at the same time.
Detail released its iOS app earlier this year, after introducing its Mac app in 2022. Detail is a video editor with features such as automatic captions, a teleprompter and a live green screen.
