Version iPad Pro with mini LED screen costs 1219 euros
Apple has announced the new version of the iPad Pro with mini LED screen. The large version of the tablet with 12.9 “miniLED screen will cost 1219 euros, while the smaller version with regular LCD should cost 899 euros.
The iPad Pro gets the same M1 soc as in the new iMac and MacBooks. Until now, iPad Pro models have been getting souped-up versions of iPhone processors. Apple claims that the iPad Pro models are more powerful thanks to Apple’s new ARM soc. Thanks to the M1, the iPad Pro gets Thunderbolt support in the USB-C port. This makes it possible to connect and use external displays and external storage faster than before. In terms of storage, there will be a 2TB version of the tablet, Apple says.
The large version will have a mini LED screen. Apple calls that a Liquid Retina XDR display with a maximum brightness of 1600 candelas per square meter and a high contrast. This is possible by placing ten thousand small LEDs behind the screen instead of 72 large LEDs. They divide the screen into 2596 zones. The technique is the same as the fald backlights of TVs.
Apple is also adding a 5G version to its iPads with a cellular connection. That step was obvious, because last year’s iPhone 12 series also supports 5G. There have been versions of the iPad with mobile internet for years.
There will be a new 12-megapixel camera above the screen with an ultra-wide-angle lens and a viewing angle of 122 degrees. It has Center Stage, a way to zoom in and keep users in the center of the frame while moving around. This is done without moving the tablet.
The new iPad Pros thus appear a year after the previous one, which in turn appeared a year and a half after their predecessors. The 12.9″ version comes out for 1219 euros, the 11″ variant starts at 899 euros. The tablets will be released in a month.
