Valve to sell Steam hardware through brick and mortar stores
Valve has signed an agreement with GameStop, GAME UK and EB Games. The retail chains, which are located in the US, UK and Canada respectively, will start selling Steam hardware in their physical stores from this fall.
The game stores will have a ‘Steam Section’, where hardware such as the Steam Controller, Steam Link and Steam Machines will be displayed and sold. It is the first time that Valve will sell products through physical stores.
Valve previously partnered with the same retailers for the preorders of the Steam hardware. These pre-orders will be delivered a month before the official launch. According to Steam, all of these products sold out within a month. Those who order Steam hardware now have to wait until November 10, but will receive the games Rocket League and Portal 2 as a gift. Whether the Steam hardware will later also be available in physical stores in other countries is not yet known.
