Valve releases Steam app for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1
Valve has released the Steam app for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1. With the app, users of Microsoft’s mobile operating systems can, among other things, activate an extra layer of security for their Steam account.
The Steam app can be installed from the Windows Store. In addition to the Steam Guard feature, the app allows users to trade items with friends and sell in-game items. It is also possible to browse the Steam Store and remotely install games on a PC at home.
The app is largely the same as for Android and iOS, but of course has a different interface. Given the screenshots, that interface is more focused on the design of Windows Phone 8.1 than the newer Windows 10 Mobile.
The market share of Microsoft’s mobile operating systems has fallen into freefall as the software maker’s shipments of Lumia smartphones plummet. As a result, it doesn’t often happen that big brands come up with new apps for Microsoft’s mobile operating systems.
