Steam has received a new client update that redesigns the Downloads page and the Storage Management section of the platform and adds some new features. According to Valve, this update is mainly aimed at improving usability.

According to Valve, the update ensures that the download page now clearly shows how far the game has been installed, while previously you could only see the download progress. This should prevent it from appearing that a game is almost playable, but in reality the write assignment process is still in progress.

In addition, after the update, it is possible to prioritize the games in the download row by dragging them from place to place. In addition, a patch notes button has been added to the download row for games, which replaces the ‘View News’ button. For example, according to Valve, it should be easier to see what the latest update adds to the game.

The Storage Management section of the platform now shows more clearly how much storage space is occupied by Steam content on a per-disk basis. This page now also shows more clearly what content is involved, such as games, updates or Workshop DLC. In addition, Steam has fixed a number of minor bugs and made improvements to other parts of the platform.

According to Valve, the update is mainly intended to improve the clarity and ease of use of the distribution platform. Most of the changes in the update will be available in the Steam Client Beta starting in July.
