Those interested in learning more about the choices developers have made to make Half-Life: Alyx what it is will be in luck on Friday the 13th. Valve has updated the virtual reality game with audio commentary from employees.

Players will find floating headsets throughout the game that they can put on to hear the audio commentary from developers and other Valve employees. They then tell about choices they faced while working on the game.

For example, they explain the placement of certain enemies in the environment, the reactions of test players to the choice not to be able to destroy Striders, the use of audio to draw players’ attention to game elements and the implementation of gestures for actions.

The game has a total of 147 different listening positions and more than three hours of spoken commentary can be heard. Valve advises players to go through the entire game before listening to the commentary.
