Valve Postpones Steam Deck Docking Station Indefinitely
Valve is indefinitely delaying the release of its official docking station for the Steam Deck. The docking station was previously planned for this spring. According to Valve, this delay will not affect production or deliveries of the Steam Deck itself.
The delay comes according to Valve due to “parts shortages and covid-related closures” at its factories. The company indicates that it is “working on improving the situation” and will share more information about the docking station as soon as it can. Valve also says it will continue to improve support for other docks.
According to Valve, the docking station postponement has no effect on the production schedule and reservations of the Steam Deck. The handheld is currently on a waiting list. Users who pre-order a Steam Deck now can expect it in “October 2022 or later” at the earliest.
The Steam Deck docking station is for using the Steam Deck as a kind of desktop computer. It has three USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI 2.0 connection, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection and an RJ45 connection for Gigabit Ethernet. So it is now unknown when the docking station will be released and Valve has not yet shared a suggested retail price.
