According to Valve, users will not have to stop playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 because of the source code leak. The code will not help cheaters, the company says.

Valve confirms the leak in a statement and claims the code was leaked earlier in 2018. It would be code from the end of 2017. According to the company, the same code has now resurfaced, so it will not help people find better cheats in the games. Also, according to Valve, there is no need to panic or stop playing the current builds.

Valve says it will continue to monitor the situation and is calling on people who know more about the leak to get in touch. The source code of CS:GO and TF2 appeared online on Wednesday, after which communities such as Creators.tf took the servers offline as a precaution. For security reasons, Valve recommends that players always use the company’s official servers when playing.
