Valve launches Steam Link Anywhere for streaming games from PC over the internet
Valve has expanded the Steam Link functionality with Anywhere. This makes it possible for users to stream games over the internet to any other system running Steam Link, including Android devices.
Steam Link Anywhere is part of Steam Link build version 688 and the feature is still in early beta, Valve has announced. The feature allows games to be streamed to Steam Link from a PC running Steam as long as that system has good upload speed and the receiving Steam Link device has a good network connection. Previously, streaming from PC only worked over local networks by default.
Users who want to try out the feature can update their Steam client to the March 13 beta or later and select ‘Other Computer’ at Steam Link and follow the pairing instructions. Beta users of the Steam Link hardware, the Android app, and those for the Raspberry Pi will get the Anywhere feature automatically. The app is not available for iOS: Apple did not approve to offer it last year.
Valve has become increasingly focused on Steam Link apps and last year without much publicity discontinued the supply of the Steam Link hardware.
