Valve has made SteamVR 2.0 available to all users. This update should ensure that most features of Steam and Steam Deck are also part of the SteamVR user interface. The update was already released in beta last month.

According to Valve this update is the first step in unifying the Steam ecosystem for all users, making the experience more ‘consistent’ across devices such as PCs, Steam Decks and VR headsets. Valve promises that new Steam features will be released to SteamVR faster and more frequently as a result.

So far, SteamVR users have been missing out on many standard features in the native interface, but most of them have been added in the new UI. For example, the chat and voice chat functions can now be used natively in SteamVR. It should also be easier to start games, with VR titles highlighted, and to navigate to the friends list, download section and saved screenshots, for example.

In addition, it should be easier to access notifications and open the PC desktop. Valve also announces that after the update, the virtual keyboard will support typing with two cursors simultaneously, new languages, emojis and themes. The game company already released this update as an opt-in beta version last month.
