Valve has confirmed that it will be adding a feature to Steam that will allow individual games to be hidden from friends. For now, this feature is only available in the beta of the Steam client.

Users can mark the games as ‘private’ before they have been paid for, writes Valve. This is also possible afterwards, via the game list in the web version of Steam or via the library in the Steam client. Until now it was only possible to hide all games, or reveal all games to friends or all Steam users. The existence of the feature to hide individual games was discovered a month ago by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik.

In addition, some other changes regarding Steam’s shopping cart have been made in the same beta. It is now possible to donate games to multiple users at the same time, without having to make separate purchases. This makes it possible, for example, to pay for three games for three different users at the same time.

Finally, shopping carts on all devices where users are logged into Steam are now linked. So if a user adds a game to their cart on one device, it will automatically be added to the carts on their other devices as well. It is not yet clear when these new features will be available to all Steam users.
