Valve gives SteamVR new dashboard view
Valve has given its virtual reality platform a major makeover with a new beta for SteamVR. It is an early look at a new dashboard, the functionality of which is still limited.
The new dashboard is part of SteamVR Beta v1.10.9 and some features of the changed platform require users to run the beta of the Steam client. With the change of display, Valve is moving away from the four-year-old Steam Big Picture Mode-based interface.
The new interface is very basic, showing some recently played titles and a list of games in the user’s library by default. There is also a new view for the store, with only the categories Top Singleplayer, Top Multiplayer and Top Free for now. The settings have also been simplified and with desktop view it is possible to show the image from different monitors.
The Browse All button returns users to the old Big Picture mode. Valve promises to make more improvements and new features to the test version of SteamVR in the coming weeks.
