Valve has announced Dota Plus, a monthly subscription to Dota 2 that gives players access to cosmetic items, individual hero levels, and a tool that tracks player statistics, among other things.

Valve describes Dota Plus as an evolution of the Majors Battle Pass; the latter is a virtual pack of cosmetic items, which is released each season at the major tournaments and the major The International tournament. Players can subscribe to the service in Dota 2’s client for $4 a month.

Dota Plus provides experience points and levels on each of the 115 individual heroes, among other things. Each game provides a bit of experience and makes the hero level up slightly, eventually making Reward Shards available, which can be used to purchase cosmetic items, among other things.

In addition, Dota Plus brings specific challenges for each hero that also yield Reward Shards upon completion. Furthermore, users of the service will be able to use the Plus Assistant, an analytical system that keeps statistics about Dota 2 that users can access in real time. For example, the system will give suggestions for items to choose from for the hero played and for the progress of the various abilities.
