Valve has announced that it will renew Dota 2, under the name Dota 2 Reborn. The game is getting a new game engine and the interface is being cleaned up. More information will become available next week and Valve will let you know when the open beta starts.

On its website, Valve explains which innovations Dota 2 Reborn entails. The new version is likely to be based on the Source 2 engine that Valve announced earlier this year, although the details are still missing. The interface is also being cleaned up with the new engine: the dashboard has been renewed, which should make it easier to participate in a game session, among other things.

The new interface should also make it easier to track friends’ activities and view their game stats. In addition, the updated Watch function should make it easier to follow the game sessions of others. Furthermore, the chat function has been improved and the Hero browser has been adjusted.

Valve states that it will provide more information next week: then the company will talk about a feature called Custom Games, and later it will give details about the new game engine. An open beta should be launched sometime after that so players can try out Dota 2 Reborn.
