‘Valve banned record number of players with anti-cheat software in December’
In December, Valve banned a record number of players from various game servers with the Valve Anti Cheat software, or VAC. About 600,000 players have been blocked through the software. The bans are permanent.
Twitter user Nors3, shared a chart showing the peak. He claims that the VAC has been on a large scale five times in December and that Counter Strike-Global Offensive players have received most of the bans. However, he cannot say anything about the reason for the bans.
PCGamesN reports that Nors3’s chart matches the chart on SteamDB. However, the number of bans in it is slightly higher, with a difference of about 2,100 bans. PCGamesN speculates that the increase in bans is related to the addition of the battle royale mode to CS:GO and the fact that the game has been largely free since early December. Twenty million new players joined that month.
