Valve announces 100 of the most successful Steam games of 2016
Valve has revealed which games made the most sales in 2016. The games are divided into several ‘success categories’. The winners of the Steam Awards have also been announced.
Valve does not disclose exactly how much sales the games have made. Also, the company does not give an exact ranking of sales, but divides the titles into success categories: platinum, gold, silver and bronze. The platinum and gold classes each contain twelve games, silver contains sixteen and bronze contains the last sixty games.
In the Platinum category, the games are XCOM 2, The Witcher III, Grand Theft Auto V, Dark Souls III, Total War: Warhammer, Dota 2, Counter Strike: GO, The Division, Fallout 4, No Man’s Sky, Rocket League and Find Civilization VI. The rest of the list can be found on the Steam website. What is striking about the list is that half of the games were not released in 2016.
Valve has also announced the winners of the Steam Awards. The awards are divided into nine fun categories, which could be voted on between 22 and 30 December. Grand Theft Auto V and Euro Truck Simulator 2 both won in two categories.
