Vaio Z Canvas convertible gets Core i7-4770 processor
The upcoming Vaio Z Canvas will feature an Intel Core i7-4770HQ CPU. The convertible can be equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The 12.3″ display offers a resolution of 2560×1704 pixels.
The Vaio Z Canvas, which runs on Windows 8.1, has an aluminum housing, weighs 1.21kg and measures 301x213x13.7mm. The Intel Core i7-4770HQ, a quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, also includes an Iris Pro 5200 GPU. In order to properly cool the i7 with a tdp of 47W, the Japanese manufacturer has included a cooling system with plenty of space for air cooling in the housing.
According to the manufacturer, the 12.3 “display, good for a resolution of 2560×1704 pixels, can display 95 percent of the Adobe RGB color space. The screen can also be operated with the supplied stylus.
The device is available with 8 or 16 GB of RAM and a 256 or 512 GB SSD. There will also be a variant in which four SSDs are included in the convertible in a double raid 0 setup, also with 512GB of total storage. On the back of the device is an 8-megapixel camera, with a 1-megapixel webcam on the front. Furthermore, a gigabit Ethernet connection, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 are available. Two USB 3.0 ports are housed in the housing, along with an HDMI 1.4 output, a mini displayport connection, an SD card reader and an analog headphone output.
The battery of the Vaio Z Canvas has a capacity of 63Wh, good for an autonomous working time of approximately 7.6 hours. The device comes with a wireless keyboard, which can be attached to the slate using magnets. The prices of the Vaio Z Canvas, which is currently only on the market in Japan, are between 1850 and 3000 euros depending on the configuration.
