Vacancy points to HTC smartphone development with Windows 10 Mobile
Microsoft has posted a vacancy for someone who will work with HTC for smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile. The vacancy indicates that there are plans in that direction, but also that a release is not yet forthcoming.
The vacancy is specifically for someone who is at HTC’s headquarters in Taiwan and works with the manufacturer. For example, it states that the intended new hire has the goal “to create a product portfolio that focuses on usage scenarios around Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft services, combined with HTC’s devices, applications and services”.
So far, HTC has not announced any smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile. HTC’s last release with Windows Phone was a variant of its One M8. That variant only appeared in the United States in 2014. The last Windows Phone devices from HTC in the Benelux appeared in 2012. Those were the 8X and 8S. At one time, the Taiwanese manufacturer was the main mobile hardware maker for the mobile version of Windows.
After the release of Windows 10 Mobile, some devices from other manufacturers have been announced. After the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, Acer presented its Liquid Jade Primo and Funker and Vaio came with Windows 10 smartphones. There is a chance that HP and Xiaomi will be added in the coming week.
