Vacancy Plex confirms plans to bundle streaming services in Plex app

Streaming service Plex plans to bundle content from other streaming services within the Plex app. The American company is looking for a new employee to negotiate contracts for content licenses, among other things.

The Plex job posting reveals that the streaming platform still plans to make third-party content available through the Plex app. “Very soon, customers will be able to discover, organize and view content from all their streaming services through the Plex homepage.” This is a vacancy for a contract manager, who is responsible for drafting, monitoring and negotiating contracts regarding content, software and other partners.

There have been rumors for some time that Plex has the ambitious plan to include other streaming services in a bundled environment. In late 2019, Plex first announced such plans, but then called it a “long-term vision.” In April, Variety wrote that Plex had received a $50 million investment, part of which would reportedly go toward bundling third-party content.

Plex is a streaming service where users can watch live TV for free, among other things, but also host content themselves via servers. The service offers support for movies, series, podcasts, music and games. The company earns its income through in-app advertising and the Plex Pass. Plex claims to be active in nearly fifty countries and has twenty million users worldwide.
