A Universal Windows Platform version of Dolphin, an emulator for the Nintendo Wii and Gamecube, has been released. This makes playing emulated Wii and Gamecube games on Xbox Series S and X easier than it was before.

Developer SirMangler put the UWP version of Dolphin online last month and youtuber Modern Vintage Gamer made a video about it. According to him, the installation is much easier than with emulator RetroArch, while the set-up is also a bit simpler. Moreover, its performance is better because it is derived from a newer version of Dolphin.

You can install games on the Xbox’s internal storage, but it is easier to do so on a USB stick. The configuration for the Xbox controller must also be done accordingly. Users can set up the configuration for the Xbox controller in the desktop version of Dolphin on Windows and then copy that file to the USB drive to make it work on the Xbox.

The emulator achieves high frame rates at the 1440p resolution of the Xbox Series S, says Modern Vintage Gamer. This is not the case on older consoles such as the Xbox One With the One
