Uwp emulator runs Nintendo games on Hololens
The developer of the emulator Nesbox has released the Universal Windows Platform version of its app. The emulator thus makes it possible to run Nintendo apps on Windows Phones and the Hololens. The app is not yet available for the Xbox One.
The developer of Nesbox reports that the uwp version of its app has been approved by Microsoft. Users indicate that they can run the emulator on Windows 10 Anniversary Update and Windows 10 Mobile. Windows Central also has the app running on Windows Holographic, the operating system for the Hololens.
Nesbox wanted to make ‘Universal Emulator’, as the uwp version is called, also available for the Xbox One. However, the app is not yet available in the Windows Store for the console appeared and the Xbox One is also not among the supported platforms. Several developers report on Twitter that it happens more often that uwp apps for the Xbox appear longer, which leaves open the possibility that Nesbox for the console comes online. The app already supports the Xbox One S bluetooth controller.
It is unknown what Microsoft’s policy on uwp emulators is. Emulators for Windows have been around in the Windows Store for some time, but with the Universal Windows Platform, the ability to run games from competitor consoles from Microsoft on the Xbox is within reach with the Universal Windows Platform.
