Users will soon be able to upload videos to Twitter
Twitter will allow users to upload videos to the social network. Until now, users have depended on third-party apps to share videos. The social network also promises to come up with new apps.
Users can upload the videos from the Twitter website or apps, furthermore they can edit videos, promises Twitter. The functionality is expected in the first half of next year. Until now, users had to share videos via, for example, YouTube or Vine, Twitter’s own app that allows videos of up to six seconds to be shared.
Videos can then also be shared in private messages. In any case, the private messaging functionality will be expanded with a ‘series of new features’, including the option to embed tweets in private messages. The latter functionality will be rolled out next week.
Furthermore, Twitter will show users more tweets that are ‘relevant at the time’ for the user. Tweets will then not necessarily be displayed chronologically, as the company indicated earlier. For example, users can see an overview of the most important tweets that were reviewed while they were offline. Twitter promises that the ‘real-time nature of the platform’ will not change.
Finally, Twitter promises to come up with new apps, just like it came with Vine before. With the promises, Twitter hopes to have an answer to critics who claim that the company is no longer innovative enough.
