Lumia 520 and 525 users report that their device will stop working when they roll back from the Windows 10 test build to Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft has therefore temporarily withdrawn the builds of Windows 10 for the Lumia 520.

Users report that when they try to restore Windows Phone 8.1 to a Lumia 520, the device remains in flash mode and will not boot. Microsoft has therefore decided to no longer distribute the test version of Windows 10 with build number 10051 to owners of the Lumia 520 and 525.

Microsoft recently made the test build of Windows 10 available for the Lumia 520, among others, but that build is not yet stable and consistent. Many users have problems with the software that make them want to go back to Windows Phone 8.1, which is now standard on the device after trying it.

The Lumia 520 and 525 were released in 2013 and now have successors in the form of the Lumia 530, 532, 535 and 540. Other Lumia models seem to have no problems when users try to replace the Windows 10 trial version via the Recovery Tool by a stable Windows Phone 8.1.
