User data of PDF reader Foxit is stolen in data breach

Hackers have broken into the servers of the popular PDF reader Foxit. Names, addresses, e-mails and passwords were stolen. Many things surrounding the hack are not yet known.

It appears to be an intrusion into the company’s servers, in which the attackers managed to steal various data from users of the software. Victims have received an email from the company. ZDnet has seen that e-mail. In the email, customers are warned that their password has been reset, and that they must set a new one the next time they log in to their account.

The information stolen comes from users who have an account with Foxit. In it they can, among other things, buy premium software from the company and view their transaction history. According to Foxit, no credit card numbers or other financial details were stolen in the theft. However, it would be the names of users, their e-mail addresses, any company names, telephone numbers, and IP addresses.

In addition, passwords have been stolen. However, Foxit does not say whether they were encrypted and in what way. The company also does not say how many victims there are, or when the incident took place.
