US government also warns of dangers BlueKeep vulnerability s
Following the example of companies and intelligence services, the US government warns about possible ‘WannaCry-like situations’ as a result of the BlueKeep vulnerability. A patch is available for that, but not everyone has implemented it.
The warning comes from the Department of Homeland Security. In it, the US government warns that attackers can exploit a vulnerability in older versions of Windows to spread a virus to other systems. The attack is called ‘wormable’ and therefore has the risk of causing as much damage as, for example, WannaCry, the serious ransomware from 2017.
The ministry warns system administrators that they must patch their systems. Microsoft has now released a patch for the vulnerability, but not everyone has implemented it yet. Therefore, millions of computer systems around the world are still vulnerable. The ministry’s warning is the first from the US government itself. Microsoft itself and the intelligence service NSA also warned about this.
