US company wants to release smartphone with two micro-sdxc card slots

Saygus has announced a 5″ smartphone at CES that has two micro-SDXC cards. The standard storage capacity of 64GB can therefore be expanded by up to 256GB. The Saygus V² should be released in the spring of 2015 and the retail price is still unknown.

Due to the presence of two micro-SDXc cards, the smartphone of the American company will receive support for up to 320GB of storage capacity, as is clear from the specifications. The V² runs on a Snapdragon 801 soc from Qualcomm in combination with 3GB of RAM. Saygus has chosen Android KitKat as the operating system for the new smartphone.

The V² has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and the screen uses Gorilla Glass 4, which was announced by Corning in November. The tempered glass must protect devices against fall damage. The smartphone has a 13-megapixel camera on the front, while the rear camera should offer 21. The battery has a capacity of 3100mAh and the weight is estimated at 141 grams.

The smartphone is also equipped with various sensors, such as a gyroscope and a speedometer. Connections to other networks and devices can be made via lte, nfc and bluetooth 4.0, among other things. The phone also supports mhl and micro-usb 2.0 and 3.0. Saygus claims to further provide the smartphone with a fingerprint scanner. However, it is unclear to what extent Saygus can deliver on its promises. For example, the company claims to be able to use the 21-megapixel sensor from Sharp exclusively, which is striking for a small company. Engadget has had their hands on a prototype of the V² and reports that the sensor had a much lower capacity. In addition, Saygus announced a high-end smartphone, the VPhone, at CES 2010, which never made it to the market.
