Update to make windows of 1.1 million US Tesla vehicles safer
Tesla is coming with an update that should make the electric windows of 1.1 million of its American cars safer. According to Tesla, the calibration of the anti-trap system of the windows in some cars has not been adjusted sufficiently to comply with US legislation.
From documents The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that the anti-trap system can exert more force than allowed when it detects an obstacle when closing the power windows. The windows wouldn’t open enough afterwards either. According to the car manufacturer, this means that a passenger of a Tesla vehicle will be injured as soon as it comes into contact with the problem. The company will release an over-the-air firmware update to address the issue and comply with national legislation.
According to the automaker, the problem affects US Tesla Model S vehicles sold in 2021 and 2022, as well as US Model 3 vehicles sold from 2017 through 2022 and Model X and Model Y vehicles. sold in the US market since 2021. It’s unclear whether Tesla vehicles sold in other parts of the world will soon receive an update. The company states that it is currently unaware of any injuries or accidents to people due to the problem with the anti-trap system. Last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Tesla has produced a total of 3.8 million cars.
