Upcoming Destiny expansion will be called Rise of Iron
Destiny’s next expansion pack is likely to be called Rise of Iron. This is evident from leaked marketing materials that appeared on Reddit. The expansion is expected to be released in September.
The official announcement of the expansion is expected to take place at E3 in mid-June. According to Kotaku sources, the leaked poster material is authentic. The Rise of Iron expansion includes a new raid, according to that source, and is larger than DLCs released for Destiny in the past two years.
It’s not entirely clear how the expansion fits into the Iron Banner pvp event, but it appears to be Iron Banner maestro Lord Saladin in the poster holding a flaming ax or hammer in his hands.
According to Kotaku’s sources, the raid in Rise of Iron is loosely based on the raid that was taken from the House of Wolves DLC last year. There would have been a time when developer Bungie had planned to release this or a similar DLC in April, but that didn’t happen.
In early January, when it was announced that Destiny 2 would not be released in September 2016, it was already announced that a team was working on a larger DLC that should be released in the coming months. This now appears to be Rise of Iron. Publisher Activision announced in February during its annual results that Destiny 2 should be released in 2017.
