Unlocking Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Bootloader Requires Opening Case
A method has emerged online to unlock the Fire TV Stick 4K bootloader from Amazon. The method requires users to unscrew the device and short-circuit the dat0 pin of the emmc storage.
The method, which k4y0z published on XDA-Developers, requires users to download a Linux ISO and boot from something like a USB stick, then unscrew the Fire TV Stick to find the dat0 pin and use tweezers or other metal object. short circuit by connecting it to, for example, the PCB shielding.
It is then possible to use the instructions of the exploit Kamakiri to unlock the bootloader and flash the custom recovery TWRP. Controlling the interface of TWRP can then be done via a mouse with usb-otg, using ADB or by placing the commands in the folder /cache/recovery/command. The use of TWRP and ADB is possible because the HDMI dongle runs a modified version of Android.
It is the first method to unlock the device bootloader. The first mod has already been released. It adds, among other things, a Google search app, a launcher and a new keyboard. The Fire TV Stick 4K came out this fall.
