Uniti unveils light electric three-seater city car with 12kWh or 24kWh battery
Swedish company Uniti has released more details about its crowdfunded electric car. This Uniti One will be released next year in two versions, with battery capacities of 12 and 24 kWh.
The 12kWh model of the Uniti One should have a range of 150km, but there is also an option for a 24kWh battery. With this larger battery, the range increases to approximately 300 km. The version with the 24kWh battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in 17 minutes, according to Uniti, if a 50kW charger is used; with the 12kWh version this takes nine minutes. With 50kW chargers, the car can drive 100 km again after ten minutes of charging. The batteries are located under the floor, which gives the car a low center of gravity.
The Uniti One is a compact city car with only a driver’s seat available in the front. Behind him, seats for up to two passengers are available. Then there is still 155 liters of cargo space left, although that can be significantly expanded by laying the rear two seats flat. The car is 3.22m long and 1.71m wide, including door mirrors, and has a tight turning circle of seven meters, according to Uniti.
The driver sits in the middle of the car and has a digital dashboard in front of him, with the infotainment system running on Android Auto. Other vehicle functions such as lighting, heating and air conditioning are also controlled via touch screens or via voice control. For reverse driving, or the option to put the transmission in neutral or drive, there are three separate, physical buttons on the dash.
According to Uniti, the car achieves an efficiency of 8 kWh/100 km because the Uniti One is designed with the intention of saving weight, although the company does not explain this further. The electrically powered model has an electric motor that drives the rear wheels, a power of 68 hp and a torque of 85 Nm. The top speed is 120 km/h and the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 9.9 seconds.
The Uniti One will be delivered to customers in Sweden and the United Kingdom from the middle of next year. Other countries will follow, although it is not known whether the car will also come to the Benelux. The One with the 12 kWh battery costs 17,767 euros, excluding taxes. The 24kWh version costs 20,567 euros and then there is an additional 2800 euros to enable fast charging via direct current.
