The new DJI Air 2S drone has hit the shelves at a Best Buy in Hickory, North Carolina, before its official announcement. The Fly More combo appears to come with a new controller and two batteries for $1,299.

The Air 2S is the successor to the Mavic Air 2, and DroneDJ suspects DJI will release the drone this week. US retailers have had the drone in their homes since April 4, and the Best Buy store in the US city of Hickory has put the drone on the shelves.

In the photos, which an American drone pilot took according to DroneXL, you can see that the Air 2S looks slightly different from its predecessor, with extra sensors on the front. The photos show that the drone has a 1-inch CMOS sensor and comes with ADS-B AirSense detection. The latter is useful, because it allows it to recognize aircraft and other flying objects with ADS-B on board and warn if the drone gets too close. The feature is also on the recently released DJI FPV drone.

Earlier, more was known about the DJI Air 2S, such as that it would have an improved camera compared to last year’s Mavic Air 2, with a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor. That’s a lower resolution than its predecessor, which has a 48-megapixel 1/2-inch sensor, but since the sensor is larger, it should theoretically be better, especially in low-light conditions. According to Drone DJ, the Air 2S should work with DJI’s new FPV goggles, the V2 Goggles, and with the Motion Controller made for the DJI FPV.

The well-known DJI leaker OsitaLV also shared on Sunday that the Air 2S has a range of 12 kilometers, flies 31 minutes on a 3500mAh battery and films in 5.4K at 30fps, 4K 60fps or 1080P 120fps. TechnikNews also stated last week that the drone will lose its Mavic brand name and will therefore simply be called the Air 2S, will receive improved ActiveTrack for automatic people tracking, support for the low-latency OcuSync 3.0 standard and 30 grams heavier. than its predecessor. People who got their hands on the Air 2S at the Best Buy can’t use it yet. The drone will only work once DJI has put the app for the Air 2S live and that only happens on the day of release.
