Ubisoft working on TV series based on pirate game Skull & Bones
Game publisher Ubisoft has teamed up with film production company Atlas Entertainment to create a TV series based on the upcoming pirate game Skull & Bones. It is not yet known when the series will be released.
The TV series would revolve around a female protagonist who operates as a pirate in the Indian Ocean at the end of the ‘golden age of piracy’ in the eighteenth century, writes The Hollywood Reporter. More details are still unknown, such as when the series will be released, or whether the TV series will remain close to the content of the game or just based on it.
Skull & Bones was announced at E3 2017 and is set in the Indian Ocean in the year 1712. The game revolves around pirates who want to plunder the lucrative Indian trade routes through naval combat. There is room for solo missions, but there is also an online section. The game should be released this year, although the release date is still unknown.
Atlas Entertainment is responsible for the TV series Dirty John and the film Twelve Monkeys, among others. The pilot episode of the pirate series is written and produced by Amanda Segel, who is the producer of the TV series The Mist and Person of Interest, among others.
