Ubisoft will stop servers for old Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games in 2021 2021
Ubisoft is pulling the plug on multiplayer servers for several older Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games before the end of the year. The publisher also stops other PC games, which means that dlc disappears, for example.
Ubisoft will discontinue its Connect console service for a total of 19 games. In some cases, the multiplayer functionality also stops. The publisher has posted a list on its forum of games that are no longer supported. The multiplayer feature will disappear on Rainbow Six Vegas, Vegas 2 and Lockdown, and on Ghost Recon Future Soldier. That will happen sometime in 2021, but the company does not give a hard date for it. The shutdown of the servers means that players will no longer be able to play online on PC as well as on consoles such as the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
The publisher also stops supporting many other games. Those are mostly older games. From June 1, for example, Assassin’s Creed 2, Far Cry 2 and Anno 1404. Although those games do not have multiplayer, players will lose their unlockable content as a result. Even if players have received skins or weapons before, for example, they disappear when they play on the PC. Such ULCs will remain on consoles until players restore a save game.
