Ubisoft studio in Berlin to start working on Far Cry games from 2018
Ubisoft has announced that its new studio in Berlin will open in early 2018 and that the team will collaborate on games in the Far Cry series. With this, the publisher seems to indicate that after the arrival of Far Cry 5 a new part or an expansion will follow.
According to a blog post from Ubisoft, the new studio in Berlin will collaborate on games in the Far Cry series. More specific details have not been disclosed. The lead developer of Far Cry games is Canadian studio Ubisoft Montreal.
Ubisoft will release Far Cry 5 on February 27, 2018. The studio in Berlin is probably not working on that game, because the studio will not open until early next year and the game should probably already be as good as finished. The studio may be working on expansions for the game, or may already be working on a possible new part.
In April, Ubisoft announced a studio in Berlin. At the time, the publisher did not say which games the studio would be working on. The new Ubisoft Berlin will work closely with Blue Byte, which has teams in Düsseldorf and Mainz. That German game studio, known for games like The Settlers and the Anno series, was acquired by Ubisoft in 2001.
